Remove the SD card. In fact the time stamps suggested that the files were created when my phone crashed yesterday. The first time I tried this it worked for me - I put the card back in the phone and it was decrypted as normal. I'm going to suggest that if she really wants a card in her phone, she could try to encrypt a new SD card. I was also thinking maybe a fresh card could be successfully encrypted and it might be an issue with the data already on the card.
