The server's resources do no appear to be over utilized in any way. I run into it occasionally you have to break into steps. And, Access just isn't designed to handle millions of rows of data (which of course doesn't stop people from trying). From the looks of that code, there are at least 4 connections not being closed and you are using 4 Recordsets that could be made into only 1. I'm thinking that, maybe, switching to windows 7 (64 bit windows) might help, as that would give me more access to memory maybe.

When I took the Memo fields out of the append query then the query would execute properly. There doesn't appear to be a discernable pattern in the failures.
