There has been ONE error report on the SD1100 IS, which is the forum you are spamming in. Another variation includes looking for uneven gaps around the lens barrel, and then pushing on the side of the lens barrel that has the largest gap (note pushing the lens barrel it now angles downwards and wouldnt retract, plus the camera freezes with the samsung logo when turned on.
If you google "lens error s100" you actually see that this error happens quite a number of times.
the motor is loud though, i then polished and oiled the zoom lens cases. Then put batteries back in and see how it goes. Not the answer you're looking for? BECAUSE ONCE I GOT THE LENS ERROR ON THE LCD SCREEN.

If the AV cable doesn't fix the lens error by itself, consider keeping this cable installed while trying fixes 4, 5, and 7 as a means to provide extra power to it turns on at picture model with the logo and then died. I suspect I got some sand in the lens because the lens wouldn't close and just say 'lens error' and 'retry power on'. Eventually i slowly applied pressure on the focas len, and the zoom mechinism, when it was switching off, and it make a click.
Camera for under $500? 360 camera or fisheye lens? AND IT WAS! Realizing the camera was out of warranty, and the cost of repair would equal or exceed the price of the camera, I tried a desperation move. I have had some success by using a vacuum cleaner to assist with extracting the lens.
But thought it won't hurt to try...Canon A510..powers on, shows the canon screen, lens stuck (almost all the way in except for maybe about 3/16 of an inch)then powers off. Thanks for this post!
