Sand In Camera Lens Error Nikon Coolpix
my camera was like jamming when the lens tried to come out and saying lens error, so i tried forcing it out and ended up snapping the front of the lense What I did was turn on the camera, allow the lens to extend, grabbed the lens casing when it attempted to close. I just pulled out one short cable near the ON/OFF switch, and left 2 more wires attached to the front of the case, but with enough play to rotate the front I'm re-charging the battery (it had sitting a while) and who knows?

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W5. Jiggle the ribbon cable, put in the batteries and see if the LCD works properly. The logo is showing up dark as much of the battery power is likely going to the lens motor trying to overcome the sand. BECAUSE ONCE I GOT THE LENS ERROR ON THE LCD SCREEN.

I suspect I got some sand in the lens because the lens wouldn't close and just say 'lens error' and 'retry power on'.
If using rechargeables, and they're more than a year old, consider purchasing new rechargeable batteries as they may not be providing sufficient power to startup the camera. I tried to fix it using compressed air blown into the gaps between the lens barrels but that didn't seem to make any difference.
